In the sacred rhythm of the cosmos, some days shine brighter with divine energy. Panguni Uthram is one such day—a day when heaven meets earth, when divine unions are celebrated, and when devotees open their hearts to love, devotion, and dharma.

🌕 What is Panguni Uthram?

Panguni Uthram falls in the Tamil month of Panguni (March–April), when the Uthram Nakshatra coincides with the Pournami (full moon). This rare alignment is believed to be highly auspicious, carrying a vibration of divine completeness.

On this sacred day, several celestial weddings are believed to have taken place:

  • Lord Shiva united with Goddess Parvati.

  • Lord Vishnu united with Goddess Lakshmi.

  • Lord Rama united with Goddess Sita.

  • Andal, the devotee-saint and incarnation of Lakshmi, is also believed to have spiritually married Ranganatha.

  • And most significantly, this day also reminds us of the divine birth of Lord Ayyappan, born from the union of Lord Shiva and Mohini, the female form of Lord Vishnu.

  • Murugan Worship: It’s particularly important for devotees of Lord Murugan, with grand celebrations at his temples, like the Palani Murugan Temple.

These weddings are not mere myths, but deep spiritual symbols—unions of Shakti and Shiva, Abundance and Preservation, Purity and Power.
