Vaikasi Visakam is a special and sacred day in the Tamil calendar. It is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Murugan. Lord Murugan was born on the Visakam star in Vaikasi month, and that day is celebrated as Vaikasi Visakam. This year, the celebration falls on June 9th.

📅 Vaikasi Visakam is celebrated when the Visakam Nakshatra aligns with the Tamil month of Vaikasi, which usually falls in May or June.

A long time ago, a demon named Soorapadman caused trouble for the world and the gods. To stop him, Lord Shiva created six divine sparks from his third eye during the month of Vaikasi, under the Visakam star. These sparks were placed in a holy lake, and from them, six babies were born. Goddess Parvati lovingly joined them into one child with six faces – Murugan. Later, Murugan defeated the demon and brought peace.

Vaikasi Visakam is not just a celebration of his birth, but a reminder that with courage, wisdom, and faith, we can overcome any challenge.

On this sacred day, may Lord Murugan bless us with strength, clarity, and peace in our hearts.

Happy Vaikasi Visakam!
